Claverack is located in central Columbia County. The town is named after the Dutch word for clover fields. The Taconic State Parkway runs through Claverack resulting in a fair share of speeding tickets and other traffic tickets being sent to the Claverack Town Court. Claverack Town traffic ticket cases are heard on the first and fourth Tuesday of the month. They are also heard on the fifth Tuesday of the month when applicable. Criminal cases are heard on the second and third Tuesday of each month. Court sessions begin at 5:30 pm for both criminal and traffic court sessions.
